Decanter World Wine Awards 2009

Dveri–Pax wine cellar bags new awards to retain its position among the world's top wine producers

The last few days were a source of delight as the official results of the Decanter World Wine international wine assessment were announced in London. The number of participating countries makes it the largest competition in the world — this year, 10,285 samples were presented for evaluation out of which eight wines from our cellar won awards.

The 2008 Sauvignon, 2007 Sauvignon, Vajgen, 2008 Riesling and 2007 Riesling M wines won the silver award, and the Dveri–Pax wine cellar received a bronze award for the 2008 Janez, 2008 Furmint, 2007 Chardonnay, Vajgen, and the 2006 Furmint — Welschriesling dry grape assortment wines. We are very proud of our Pinot Gris that received a recommendation title.

These awards come as a reward for all the effort and knowledge that we put into the making of wine throughout the year. After a very successful fall harvest last year and an excellent beginning of the year with an opulent icy grape–harvest, we had the wares to prove that Slovene wines are of a truly superb quality. The awards that came our way further corroborate this fact. They place us alongside the best wine producers worldwide; but, above all,

they are really worth toasting with!
