An icy grape–harvest in the first days of the new year
Despite the severe cold, the first days of the new year were extremely active in our wine cellar. It was precisely the cold that allowed us to carry out the harvesting of frozen grapes for the first time in five years. In the early hours of 5 January 2009 at nine degrees below zero, we picked Furmint grapes from the Kapela vineyard from which 150 litres of must were produced. A day later, at the renowned location of Vajgen, we picked frozen Muscat Blanc grapes and produced 120 litres of sweet intoxicating liquid. We are especially proud of this year's harvest, since in addition to last year's successful harvest, we managed to make an additional winter one.
Despite the cold, there was no shortage of good spirits and the team of our cellar began the year 2009 successfully.
Our selection of topmost wines will be enriched with this year's excellent ice wine, which will be a real treat to all wine connoisseurs.
